Get to Know Your Role
President
Arguably you have the biggest responsibility on the committee as you will have to provide leadership and ensure that the Society's aims and objectives are met. You are also the spokesperson of the Society and will need to preside all executive meetings. One critical requirement is that you have served on the Committee for a minimum of 1 year.
You must also adhere to the rules and follow university protocol and ensure that the rest of the committee members do too.
Vice President (Sister)
You are in charge of overviewing the DUIS campaigns and events team. It is your responsibility to ensure all events are well organised and make sure to liase with PR/Marketing making sure all relevant information is passed to the head of the media teams
You need to keep in close contact with the president and step in for them when need be, as well as keep in close contact with the events, educational development and campaigns co-ordinators!
Vice President (Brother)
You are in charge of overviewing the DUIS marketing and social media team. It is your responsibility to ensure all events are well advertised and promoted on all DUIS social media platforms as well as making sure posters are created and distributed for each event.
You need to keep in close contact with the president and step in for them when need be, as well as keep in close contact with the social media rep and graphics designer.
Treasurer
This role entails keeping in contact with our DUSA accounts manager to ensure we have funds for our events. You will deal with managing DUIS accounts, dealing with reimbursements and managing deposits and withdrawals from the account.
You will need to keep in close contact with event coordinators and the president to establish budgets for all events.
Secretary
This role entails taking minutes at each DUIS meeting and sharing them on the committee drive for everyone to access. You are also responsible for the mailing list and membership signups.
Events Co-ordinator
This role entails co-ordinating events from start to finish. This involves locating a suitable venue, estimating a cost to run the event, sourcing material/equipment and food for the event and setting up an itinerary.

Communication and organization skills are key for this role. You need to keep close contact with the committee as a whole especially social media reps who promote the events and the treasurer to decide a suitable budget for the event. Don't forget, there are other event coordinators to help you!
General Executive
This role entails stepping in to help committee members when needed. You are responsible for aiding in any committee member role, be it helping with making posters, putting up social media posts or working alongside event-coordinators to help organize and run events.
You're basically an 'Everyman' that's there to help with all the odd jobs around the house!
Social Media Representative
This role entails managing DUIS social media accounts and to ensure events and announcements are clearly advertised on all social media platforms. Duties include updating and posting content regularly, responding to messages and inquiries, developing innovative ways to advertise the society to expand our reach. Collaborate and build relationships with other ISOC's and other societies on campus to promote a sense of unity and to share ideas.
This requires you to liaises with events, graphics and well, all other members of the society in order to promote the society according to the vision. After all, branding is important as its the way members perceive DUIS.
Graphics Designer
This role entails collecting information from the event co-ordinators and designing a suitable poster for the event. You also need to keep in contact with the social media rep to create content for the DUIS social media platforms. Time management is key for this role as weeks with multiple events can become hectic if not prepared well.
