What with all the acronyms floating around, we figured it would be useful to have a jargon buster defining all of the abbreviations relevant to our society
Dundee University Islamic Society (DUIS)
That's Us! One of the oldest and largest societies on campus
Annual General Meeting (AGM)
The biggest committee/member meeting of the year! Where a new committee is elected to run DUIS for the following year! Members who would like to join the committee must prepare a short speech about why they would like to join DUIS and what role they are going for (role descriptions can be found on the committee positions page under 'About Us')
Usually consists of a run through the year's highlights and a short review.
Federation Of Student Islamic Societies (FOSIS)
The umbrella body for Muslim students, representing the voice of hundreds of thousands of Muslim student across the UK & Ireland since 1963. FOSIS has a national executive committee which runs national projects as well as 7 regional committees (Scotland, Ireland, North, Wales and West, Midlands, London and South) that organise regional projects.

This is a FOSIS campaign designed to show the community in the UK the true teachings of Islam by carrying out activities in the community through simple acts of kindness.

Islamic Relief is an international humanitarian organisation that provides development programs and humanitarian relief around the globe, regardless of race, political affiliation, gender or belief.
International Food Festival (IFF)
One of our biggest and highly anticipated annual inter-society event that we host in the Dalhousie Foyer during Charity Week. A celebration of cultures and food from around the world.
